Grammatika is dedicated to promoting a love of English language and grammar in children. We believe that grammar provides the foundation for English and should receive more emphasis than is the current norm in Australia.
A unique element in our teaching style is the use of graphical notation to visualize sentence structure and teach grammar. Children find this pictorial technique both easy and fun to use.
Topics covered in the course include grammar, word usage, reading comprehension, and writing styles and composition. Using group/individual exercises and games, students progress through different levels of grammatical understanding to learn the parts of speech; parts of a sentence and sentence structure; punctuation; noun case and referencing; verb forms, tense, mood, voice; and agreement.
Because we believe that learning is best accomplished in partnership with parents, Grammatika periodically updates parents on the concepts that their children are currently learning. This allows parents to enhance learning by reinforcing the concepts taught in class.
Rosanne Price has over 13 years of professional teaching experience, ranging from private tuition for children in piano and equitation to formal university lecturing in English and computer science. She has designed and conducted intensive courses in technical English at the Language Institute of the University of Stuttgart.
As an academic at University of Melbourne and Monash University, she has had extensive experience in technical writing, editing, and publication.
Rosanne has a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College (General and Departmental Honours and Phi Beta Kappa), a Masters from National University of Singapore, and a PhD from Monash University.
